Whether you’re a new blogger or a seasoned pro, there are lots of things to think about when it comes to your blog hosting services. In this post, I’m going to take a look at Lyrical Host who are my current blog host and who have become very popular among bloggers.
When you’re running a blog, either as a business or as a hobby blogger, then one of the most important things is your blog host.
Your blog host is what keeps your blog up and running and they should be there to help you with any technical issues that you might encounter.
I want to start this article by saying I’ve been with the Lyrical Host for close to three years now, so I feel like I have a good grasp of the ongoing level of service that they provide.
Before moving my blogs over to Lyrical Host I had used a couple of the big well-known web hosts – GoDaddy and Siteground.
These are often recommended by bloggers who run ‘How to start a blog’ courses as they get a hefty affiliate kickback with the added bonus of offering the new bloggers cheap hosting for the first year.
The problem with these big web hosts is that:
A) The customer service is often terrible
and
B) They are always trying to upsell you their services, including things that might be included with hosting elsewhere, such as an SSL certificate or malware scanning.
Why Choose Lyrical Host For Your Blog or Website?
There are a lot of reasons I think Lyrical Host makes a great web host and I’m going to take a look at some of them here.
Of course, everyone who blogs or runs a website will have different ideas about what makes a good host and which things are most important to them, so these are the most important to me.
Excellent Customer Service
One of the things I love most about Lyrical Host is the amazing customer service. There is no issue big or small that they won’t help with and they don’t even mind you asking what you might feel are silly questions at 3am!
I found with some of the bigger hosts when I had a problem they’d spend ages trying to talk me through how to fix it on live chat, get frustrated when I couldn’t do it and then after an hour of back and forth, finally agree to go into my site and fix the problem.
It just seemed like such a waste of both my time and theirs!
Of course, I know some people like to learn more about the technical side of things and if that’s you, then great and Lyrical Host are happy to help show you how to fix things if you’d like to – just ask when raising a ticket.
But for me, I’d much rather do the writing (which is the bit I love) and let someone else take care of the tech issues.
Also, I just wanted to add, that if you’re totally new to blogging then Lyrical Host will help you get everything set up and even install a theme on your behalf.

No Price Hike On Renewal
Now, when you take a look at the pricing for Lyrical Host, you may think it seems expensive, especially when compared to other hosts like Godaddy or Bluehost.
However, Lyrical Host will never increase the price you pay on renewal.
Often the price with the other web hosting companies will double or even triple after the first year.
And while you could just move your blog over to another host with a different cheap introductory offer, you may not feel confident in doing that, which is why I would recommend choosing a company like Lyrical Host to begin with.
If you are new to the world of blogging, then I totally get that £13.99 a month can seem like a huge amount to spend early on. I often see bloggers that want to turn blogging into their career but don’t want to pay more than a couple of pounds a month for hosting.
Honestly, I totally get that everyone has differing budgets, but if you’re serious about blogging then it is worth the investment, just treat like you would any other subscription service.
Carbon Footprint Offset
As someone who is passionate about living a more sustainable life, one thing I love is supporting businesses that have the same eco values as I do.
Every year on your anniversary of your choosing them as a web host, Lyrical Host plant fruits trees in your name and this helps to offset the carbon footprint created by your website.
Supporting A Small Business
Another reason I chose Lyrical Host as my blog host is that I wanted to support another small business instead of making some millionaire somewhere even richer.
Jenny and Joe who own Lyrical Host are kind and supportive and real. I feel like I know them both (especially Jenny thanks to their customer Facebook group) and this is something you’d never get when using a big web host like Siteground or GoDaddy.
Community Support
One thing that is really important to the team that runs Lyrical Host is creating a sense of community and that’s just not something you get with some of the big web hosting companies.
As well as an active Facebook community, Lyrical Host takes the time to support the bloggers that host with them – among other things they share their articles on social media, offer paid residencies in their Facebook group and create free stock photos for their customers each month as well as having an excellent free resource library.
Monthly Payments
One thing I found with a lot of the big web hosts is that they didn’t offer monthly payments. As someone who is completely self-employed, my income can be pretty up and down, so paying monthly makes life much easier for me than having to fork out several hundred pounds in one go.
However, if you do want to pay annually that is an option and you’ll save a percentage of the cost by doing this. You can also save by using my affiliate code BLOGGINGBEAUTIFUL for a 10% discount on your first month’s or first year’s hosting plan.
Those are the main reasons I chose Lyrical Host and continue to host all of my ten websites with them. They especially cater to bloggers but all other websites, big or small, are welcome too.
